The NCA Triennale 2025 is a huge, colorful art festival happening at the National College of Arts (NCA) in Lahore, and is really the coolest thing to happen on the art scene in Pakistan in years. This is the first triennale ever held in the land; a historical moment for our artists, our students, and for all those who profess love for culture and creativity.
The event is all about gathering people from various spheres of life, countries, and art forms to mutually celebrate 150 years of NCA’s legacy and the motto “Kasb-e-Kamal Kun”— strive for excellence, so you may be admired by the world.
What’s a Triennale? Why Is It Special?
A triennale is a mega art event that takes place after three years. It’s sort of like a biennale, but we assume it allows for more time for artists to prepare and for the frisson to build up. The NCA Triennale is having its first shows in Pakistan, meant to present not just contemporary art, but also traditional crafts, design, music, and even new technology. The whole idea is to kind of dissolve that boundary between art and crafts and to show how creativity can connect people even across boundaries.
Who’s Involved and What’s Featured?
This year includes more than 200 specially invited artists, including painters, sculptors, designers, musicians, cinematographers, and architects. The Triennale had mostly all participants from abroad: Europe, China, Iran, the UK, Palestine, and so on.

You will see these works blending the old and new while also meeting those who want to share their culture and learn from it. The event is really an international one, with some artists, students, and experts coming together to create something special.
Events, Workshops, And Performances
The Triennale is quite a happening place with all sorts of activities. Hands-on workshops in metal crafts, Paper Mache, ceramic tile making, old master’s painting, sculpture, DJing, khusa making, textile arts, printmaking, film, even kite-making—there’s so much more! The workshops are conducted by master artisans, local experts, and international guests, giving you the best learning experience.
Every night, there’s a program—music, dance, experimental shows—often featuring students from different institutes, local artists, and visiting artists from abroad. Artist residencies, film screening festival, talks, and grand music festival too! The campus is filled with experiences, and each day is an opportunity to learn something new.
Why NCA Matters for Pakistan
NCA is not just an art school; it manifests creativity, culture, excellence and history. For 150 years, it has been grooming artists, designers, musicians, and thinkers who influence the entire nation.
The Triennale celebrates that legacy, where art joins people, gives birth to new thoughts, and allows us different eyes to see the world. For a lot of people in Pakistan, art is not very much out there; this sort of event helps to expand minds and uplift the capacity for appreciation of creativity.
My Experience at the Triennale
Being one of the NCA student and senior ushers/art guides at the Triennale was truly one of the best experiences I have ever had. Every day, I met all sorts of personalities—those extremely interested in the art with deep questions or simply those who wanted to walk around and soak in the atmosphere.
As a third-year painting student, I got to talk to visitors about the works of artists, share stories, and even assist in some workshops. Best of all was meeting artists and students from other institutes, learning their cultures, and watching wonderful jaw-dropping performances.

Each night turned into a new adventure, and I was so proud to be part of something so big and meaningful.
When And How Long It Is Held?
The NCA Triennale began in October 2025 and runs through November, with events, exhibitions, and workshops almost every day. If you haven’t made a trip yet, do visit; there’s still time to catch all the excitement, meet fascinating people, and view great art that changes how Pakistan thinks of creativity.
Final Words
The NCA Triennale is more than an art fair; it is a celebration honoring all that is creative about Pakistan-a place to learn, connect, and be truly moved. Informing the public is something you do not want to miss while in Lahore. Now, and throughout history, it is finding expression in the NCA.
If you are an artist, a student, or someone looking for new experiences, surely something here is for you.
